Wild Strawberry Fields

Wild Strawberry Fields is a complete renovation designed to make the most of a beautiful property and its panoramic sunset views. The project involved extensive demolition and reconstruction throughout the home, including the removal of a large atrium that had fallen into disrepair. In its place, the redesigned home feels open, comfortable, and closely connected to the surrounding landscape.

The homeowners’ love of the evening sunset became a defining influence on the design. Expansive curtain wall glazing opens the living spaces to the view, while warm orange accents throughout the kitchen and living room draw inspiration from the vivid colours of the setting sun. Paired with a wood-burning fireplace, these details bring warmth and character to the home’s contemporary interior.

Just as importantly, the renovation was designed around how the homeowners wanted to spend their time. A walkout office and workshop at one end of the house creates a dedicated space for work and hobbies, while a covered outdoor living area provides a sheltered place to enjoy Newfoundland summers and the surrounding landscape.

With retirement in mind, the home was also thoughtfully designed for aging in place. The main living spaces are arranged on a single level with no stairs, creating an accessible and comfortable home that can continue to meet the owners’ needs for years to come.
